Summer is rolling along in the garden and greenhouse. We’ve had some amazing plant growth so far, so much so there’s a woodchuck visiting the greenhouse and eating the sweet potato vines! I’ve had to reinforce the door to keep it out, so far so good.
A few weeks ago Eric and I went on a long trip to retrieve the fish for the aquaponics system. I am happy to report that all is well and the fish are thriving. We have 20 bullhead catfish and 4 mirror carp. Currently their food consists of mostly soy pellets, supplemented with slugs from the garden, and duckweed for the carp. Our hope is to ramp up the garden feed and reduce the pellets. The next blog post will show pictures of the new fish.
Nice picture. You know you could trap the groundhog and cook it up. Some country folks here in Virginia say they taste pretty good…

Nice! Bet it feels caribean-like in there now 😀
Nice update!
Some questions:
1. How are the catfish liking the black soldier flies and the wiggler worms?
2. Are you planning for the mirror carp to become a breeding population, or would you have to manually add more in the long-term
3. what is your waterflow sequence: tank1->tank2->tank3->filter cells->tank1?
